Hellas Verona vs Lazio preview - Pioli proud of his rampant Romans

Head coach Stefano Pioli is beaming with pride ahead of Lazio's game at Hellas Verona on Thursday.

The Biancocelesti go into the match at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi on the back of four straight Serie A wins.

Sunday's 2-1 triumph over Torino followed their 2-0 victory at Fiorentina and lifted the Romans to fifth place, where they were seven points behind Serie A leaders Juventus

And Pioli is suitably delighted with his team's impressive run.

"I am extremely happy," he said. "The team delivered another good performance against Torino.

"Even when we looked in danger after Torino equalised, the team responded.

"I see my players are hungry for success and really determined to continue our good run of form.

"Now we must prepare in the best possible way for the clash at Hellas Verona."

Lazio are hoping to recover captain Stefano Mauri - the midfielder is doubtful with a muscle problem.

Hellas, meanwhile, head into the match on the back of Sunday's humiliating 6-2 loss at Napoli.

It was a third loss from their last four league games for Andrea Mandorlini's side and dropped them to 10th place in the standings.

"It's a heavy defeat and we didn't deserve it," Mandorlini said. "We must turn the page and play much better against Lazio."

Luca Toni is expected to lead his team's attack against Lazio, but the veteran Italian has failed to score in his last six appearances.

The hosts will be bolstered by the return of defender Rafael Marquez from suspension.
