SC Paderborn 07 3 : 1 Hertha BSC Berlin - Magnificent seventh for Paderborn

Paderborn continued their impressive start to their maiden Bundesliga season with a 3-1 win over Hertha Berlin taking them up to seventh in the standings.

Marvin Bakalorz, Elias Kachunga and Alban Meha supplied the goals for Andre Breitenreiter's men with Salomon Kalou netting Hertha's consolation at the Paderborn Arena.

The East Westphalians displayed no fear with their attacking football worthy of more than just three goals, but well worth the three points.

Kachunga wasted a good chance to give Padeborn the lead in the fourth minute as he failed to connect well with a header before Bakalorz missed the target from distance.

Meha also missed the target while Moritz Stoppelkamp kept the Berlin defence busy before they finally caved in in the 28th minute with Bakalorz making no mistake this time with his shot from just inside the penalty area.

Hertha levelled out of nothing five minutes before half-time with Marcel Ndjeng's cross headed in by Kalou, but it was Paderborn who ended the half on a high with three more good chances to regain the lead.

They kept up the pressure going into the second half and got their reward when Jens Wemmer, who had just been denied himself, crossed for Kachunga to head past Thomas Kraft.

Meha then sealed the points, picking his spot in the corner from nearly 25 yards out.

Stoppelkamp nearly added a fourth before a dangerous Ronny free-kick gave the Paderborn defence some work to do.

Ronny kept on trying his luck, but it was a lost cause for Berlin, who became the latest side to discover that Paderborn are not in the top flight just to make up the numbers.
