David Moyes wants to "excite" Real Sociedad fans in his first home game in charge of the Basque club against Elche.

The former Manchester United and Everton manager earned a point in his Primera Division debut at Deportivo La Coruna last weekend but is hoping for a better display in his first appearance in the home dugout at Anoeta.

"I'm really looking forward to it, I'm looking forward to seeing a big crowd and a good atmosphere and I hope the supporters really get behind the team," Moyes told a press conference, broadcast on the club's official website.

"We beat Atletico Madrid and then we drew with Deportivo so the players should get a good backing, there's a new coach, so I'm really looking forward to it.

"What I really want is for the team to be exciting, to have speed in their play, to be committed and show how determined they are to do well for the club. I want the fans to see a good style of play, but more importantly, I want three points."

Moyes confirmed that defenders Mikel Gonzalez, Joseba Zaldua and Inigo Martinez will all miss the game, the former with a virus and the latter two due to injuries.

Moyes also announced he had chosen former Scotland midfielder Billy McKinlay as his new assistant manager. The former Northern Ireland and Watford assistant coach has been in San Sebastian with Moyes since Tuesday and watched Thursday's training session but has not yet officially joined the club, something Moyes said would happen "in the next 48 hours".

"I haven't worked with him before but he has a great knowledge of football, he's a great coach, very well respected, very enthusiastic and dynamic, so there are many reasons to bring him along," Moyes explained.

Elche lie 18th in the table, two places below La Real although they have the same number of points, and last weekend produced a late fightback to draw 2-2 with Cordoba.

"I've watched Elche and my scouts have brought me back the reports, I think they're doing fine, they've been in the league for two season so we'll have to be careful with them," Moyes said of Fran Escriba's side, who are still without first choice goalkeeper Manu Herrera and midfielder Aaron Niguez through injury.

"But the most important thing is to concentrate on ourselves and try and play well against them," he added.
