Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling has been named the European Golden Boy of 2014.
The award is voted by journalists from across the continent and presented to which is awarded to the best player under the age of 21 in a Europe top flight league.
The 20-year-old has, for the most part, been in brilliant form for the Reds and helped them to a second place finish to last season's Premier League as they pushed Manchester City close in the title race.
Sterling also shone on the international stage with England, despite the Three Lions' poor display in Brazil at the World Cup.
And his individual performances have been rewarded with the accolade, which was established by Italian newspaper Tuttosport with several other leading publications from around Europe also deciding the winner.
Sterling told Liverpool's official website: "It's a great achievement to win such an award. It's a really happy feeling for me and my family."
"Something I've always wanted to do is to work hard playing football and try to be recognised. I'm really grateful that people have shown me this recognition."
"It's down to hard work. I'm really happy that people are recognising that I'm trying to work hard and do my best for this football club. I'm really grateful for this award."
Sterling becomes only the second English player to receive the award, following in the footsteps of Wayne Rooney who won in 2004 during his Everton days, while French starlet Paul Pogba was last season’s recipient.
