David Silva wants to continue scoring goals for Manchester City after firing two for his side against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The 28-year-old playmaker came to the rescue for City on Saturday with two goals in the second half to set-up a 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace at the Etihad.

Silvas second-half double helped his side draw level on points with league leaders Chelsea and the Spain international believes he can continue scoring.

"I was able to score two goals and help the team, so I am very happy, he told City TV. "Without strikers we have to work a bit more on trying to score goals and we did that, as in the last game, so hopefully we can continue like this."

"I have always said that I like to play in the middle and every time I play there I try to score goals.

Silva starred on Saturday playing in a central role behind James Milner, breaking the deadlock four minutes after the restart with a deflected effort.

He then added to his tally with another one on the hour, firing City 2-0 ahead with a close-range strike from the edge of the six yard box.

Yaya Toure secured the win a goal in the 81st minute, meaning three points for City and their eight straight win in all competitions.

Attention now turns to Chelseas clash with Stoke on Monday night, where Jose Mourinhos men have the chance to move three points ahead of City.

Silva admitted City's busy stretch of games will be a testing time at the Eithad, but is hoping that Stoke can do them a favour by taking points away from the Blues.

He said: "We know that we have to play a lot of games during this month and that we have to try to get as many points as we can.

"So let's see if they drop some points and we can put some pressure on them."
