Peterhead vs Stranraer preview - McAllister missing for Peterhead

Peterhead will be without striker Rory McAllister against leaders Stranraer after he suffered a back spasm in the 2-2 draw with Brechin in midweek.

Midfielder Gary McDonald, who has scored five times in eight games, is missing due to work commitments but Dean Cowie is available after injury.

Manager Jim McInally said: "Stranraer have been a bit of a bogey team to us this season so it would be good to get a win and change that.

"Our result at Brechin in midweek was disappointing as we have slipped back in the play-off chase, but we go into this game with no pressure on us unlike Stranraer."

Striker Jon McShane is the visitors' only absentee as he has a knee injury.

They look to keep control of top spot by defeating the Balmoor hosts for a fifth time this season and manager Stephen Aitken said: "Peterhead will be looking to bounce back after Brechin's late penalty cost them two points on Tuesday.

"They will see this as a great opportunity to send out a message about their involvement in the play-off chase so we will need to play well to get anything.

"My players kept going until they got a late winner against Airdrie last Saturday and that resilience will be needed again."
