Sean Dyche believes his goal-shy players can still keep bottom-side Burnley in the Premier League.

Dyche backs Burnley to stay up

After a club-record six-game goal drought at the start of this season, the Clarets have scored just once in their past seven outings, that was George Boyd's winner against Manchester City.

Leicester, who were replaced by Burnley at the foot of the table last weekend, visit Turf Moor on Saturday having won their last three matches.

And despite both sides' contrasting form, Dyche remains optimistic, saying: "We had a spell earlier in the season that was like that. That's why I have got faith, because we came through it and we were scoring two a game for a spell.

"That's gone quiet on that front but most teams from 10th in the table and below have had spells like that. It can be that kind of league but of course it's important that we nip it in the bud and come out of it.

"We have been creating chances so therefore the belief is there that when you are creating chances you will take them at some point, but we have to take them sooner rather than later.

"The belief is dented not broken, that's been the case all season, we've bounced back many times."

Defeat for Burnley could see them fall five points from safety, and although Dyche is targeting victory he insists the game is not a case of "˜all or nothing'.

"It is as big as the last one, as big as the next one," said Dyche. "It is quite simply three points - that is what we want.

"I mean that wholeheartedly. It has more effect because of the position in the league and the amount of games left, of course, but the reality is every game is a tough game for us.

"It's the same for any game, but particularly against teams in and around you, you want to win.

"It's an important game, as they all have been, and obviously we want the points. Performances have generally been good, we just have to keep creating chances and take more of them."
