Crystal Palace demand at least £40m for Liverpool target Bolasie

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has slapped a £40 million price tag on his Congolese winger Yannick Bolasie following interest from Liverpool, as per The Daily Star.

The 25-year-old has impressed for the Eagles this season and he recently peaked, thanks to a hat-trick against Sunderland. Liverpool want to add the player to the ranks following another disappointing campaign and are prepared to offer Rickie Lambert in exchange for Bolasie.

''If someone wants to give me £40m-£60m for Yannick, somewhere in there, that would be good, I’d take it and we’d build the team around that money,” following news of the transfer speculation. Pardew once sold Andy Carroll to Liverpool for £35-million and clearly nows how to drive a deal for an otherwise underrated player.

''Everyone has a price, of course. I can think of a situation I had at Newcastle in the last hour of the transfer window A team that wasn’t great and not far away from the relegation zone, and we accepted £30m for Andy Carroll. Now, at that time, I said to chairman it was a gamble because we were, by no means, secure,” continued Pardew.

''But we did it and we spent the money wisely and ended up with a very, very good team. It is about the right price for the right player and then you have to build on that. If a manager wants to ring me up, I’ll talk to them and give them a proper price,” he added.

Bolasie has created 40 chances for the South London team this season, which is second place behind Jason Puncheon at the club. The midfielder has also completed 74 take ons, which has only been bettered by Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho, in terms of the current Liverpool squad.

Bolasie, who was born in France, was signed by Palace in 2012, from Bristol City for an undisclosed fee. He has also played for Barnet, Rushden and Diamons, Plymouth Argyle, Floriana and Hillingdon Borough and has also represented DR Congo 15 times, scoring four goals.
