Brendan Rodgers' job as Liverpool manager remains safe despite an impending review of this season's failure to meet key targets, sources have told ESPN FC.

Rodgers will hold discussions with American owners Fenway Sports Group after the Reds complete their Premier League season at Stoke on Sunday.

Liverpool's manager will meet FSG president Mike Gordon after Sunday's game, and is also set to have discussions with club principal owner John W Henry and chairman Tom Werner.

FSG have held a review of Liverpool's season each year since taking over in October 2010.

Although sources said Rodgers' future as coach will not be debated at the meetings, the owners are unhappy with this season's performance. The latest annual appraisal is expected to be a wide-ranging examination of the club's playing and coaching operations, with scouting and squad recruitment also coming under scrutiny.

Brendan Rodgers failed to achieve his goal of winning a trophy this season.

Liverpool spent £110 million on signing nine players last summer, but most of those signings have struggled to make an impact.

Rodgers' targets this season were to secure Champions League qualification and win a trophy, but he has been unable to do either.

Instead, the club he led to runners-up spot in the Premier League last season will finish no better than fifth this time around.

A 13-match unbeaten league run between December and March gave hope of a top-four finish following a poor first half of the season, which saw the club eliminated from the Champions League at the group stage.

But the Reds have taken just eight points from a possible 24 since and were knocked out of the FA Cup in the semifinals by Aston Villa in April.
