Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp will not be replacing Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti in the summer despite intense speculation surrounding the Italian’s future, as reported by Raphael Honigstein’s Twitter page.
Klopp confirmed last month that his eight-year spell at the Signal Iduna Park would be ending, and instantly speculation erupted as to where he may potentially go.
Ancelotti’s side have won eight of their last nine league games
With a move to the Premier League, including Liverpool, mooted several times, as claimed by The Express, suggestions came through yesterday that Klopp was in talks with Turkish outfit Fenerbahce, as reported by The Daily Mail – something which has been rebuffed since by the club and his agent, as reported by Turkish Football.
The attention is now back on the German coach and where he may potentially go once he leaves Dortmund in the summer, with it confirmed a month ago that the 47-year-old wouldn’t be taking a sabbatical.
Real manager Ancelotti is under severe scrutiny at the moment, after his side crashed out of the Champions League semi-finals last week following a 3-2 loss to Juventus on aggregate.
To make matters worse, two days ago Barcelona grabbed the win they needed against Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon to clinch the La Liga title, with Los Blancos sat in second; that is despite Real scoring 111 goals this season, the most in the Spanish top-flight.
With a trophy-less season now confirmed, Ancelotti’s future seems bleak, but it is not yet known whether president Florentino Perez will keep faith with the Italian coach.
