Luciano Vietto linked with Manchester United move

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is interested in making a move for Villarreal forward Luciano Vietto according to reports in Spain.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a fine season this year, managing 12 goals in 32 La Liga appearances, and it seems as though that caught the eye of Van Gaal.

Manchester United will be in the market for a new forward when the summer window opens having opted against taking up the option of signing loanee Radamel Falcao on a permanent basis. There has also been some speculation about Robin van Persie who is out of contract next year.

The Dutchman admitted this week that he is mulling over his options as he stares down the barrel of playing second fiddle to Wayne Rooney next term. A move to either Italy or Turkey has been mooted and Manchester United have been linked with a host of top stars including Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo as potential replacements, however Van Gaal is seemingly eyeing a different route.

AS claim that Van Gaal seems him as the ideal candidate for the job and that he could launch a bid sooner rather than later. Both Liverpool and Arsenal have been credited with an interest in the talented youngster in the past, but it is the Red Devils who are in the driving seat.
