Richards: Injuries hampered City spell

Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards believes that a host of injuries are to blame for him not blossoming during his time at the Etihad Stadium.
Richards was an instrumental part of City's line-up when they won the Premier League title in 2012, but then was forced to watch on from the sidelines as Pablo Zabaleta established himself as the Citizens' first-choice right-back.
The 27-year-old made just two Premier League appearances in the 2013/14 campaign before spending the whole of last season on loan at Fiorentina.
After being officially released by City on June 10, Richards opted to sign a four-year deal with Aston Villa a week later.
Richards is now hoping to revive his career with Villa, who narrowly avoided relegation last season after finishing 17th in the Premier League standings.
"I didn't ever expect to do what I have done, but with my injuries I think I was hampered a lot. I think I could have achieved a lot more," Richards told City TV. "I think my best years are ahead of me. It is sad to be leaving at this time.
"I do believe that when I am 100 percent fit and firing, I am a very good player," he added. "My problem over the last couple of years has been picking up injuries and getting that consistency of playing."
