Manchester United to fine Angel Di Maria two weeks' wages after no-show

MANCHESTER UNITED will fine AWOL star Angel Di Maria two weeks' wages before sending him packing to Paris St-Germain in a £45m deal.

United have agreed a cut-price fee with PSG for the sulking Argentine, as revealed by Starsport earlier this week.

Di Maria’s move to the French champions is expected to be completed in the next 48 hours when he arrives in Paris from Buenos Aires for a medical and to sign his contract.

But fuming United boss Louis van Gaal will not allow Di Maria to walk out of Old Trafford without hitting him in the pocket for £360,000.

Van Gaal is seething after Di Maria failed to show up for the club’s pre-season tour of America.

The £60m flop was told to join United’s squad in San Fransisco last week after an extended break following the Copa America in Chile.

But Di Maria never arrived to leave a stunned Van Gaal admitting he didn’t even know where he was.

Di Maria told United bosses he wanted to quit Old Trafford and join PSG after failing to settle in Manchester.

Now he is poised to get his wish after further talks between the European rivals, with the French billionaires agreeing a long-term deal with him worth £200,000-a-week.

But this will not see him escape a maximum fine of two weeks’ wages before he turns his back on Old Trafford.

Van Gaal is a strict disciplinarian and will not stand for Di Maria’s behaviour after telling club insiders it has left him embarrassed and humiliated.

The no-nonsense Dutchman demands his stars respect United at all times and knows Di Maria’s decision to disappear without permission has tarnished the club’s reputation.

The events contributed to a sour end to United’s tour of America, with Van Gaal’s men also crashing to a 2-0 defeat to PSG at Chicago’s Soldier Field Stadium in the final game of the two-week trip.

Van Gaal was forced to answer awkward questions about Di Maria’s future and when asked where the former Real Madrid winger was, he said: "I don’t want to answer that.

"Maybe you know where he is? I don’t know."
