Gillingham were held at home for the first time this season after an entertaining 3-3 draw with Oldham.

Rory Donnelly opened the scoring for the Gills in the eighth minute when Brennan Dickenson raced down the left past his marker and his low centre was converted by the striker from the edge of the six-yard box.

Oldham hit back after 28 minutes when a corner was not cleared and the ball fell to Michael Higdon, whose shot was off target before deflecting into the roof of the net off Dickenson.

Gillingham went back in front five minutes later when a free-kick was not cleared by the visitors' defence and Donnelly had a simple header into an empty goal from Dickenson's return ball in.

Oldham hit straight back when Higdon slipped Dominic Poleon in down the right channel andthe striker finished neatly with a chip over advancing home goalkeeper Stuart Nelson.

Oldham took the lead for the first time when Higdon made his mark in the 55th minute, hammering home a left-foot volley from a searching cross by Poleon.

It took only two minutes for the home side to get back level, though as Josh Wright slipped the ball to substitute Jake Hessenthaler, who cracked a superb right-foot shot into the top corner.
