Newcastle boss Steve McClaren will be hoping Daryl Janmaat makes a speedy recovery from the knee injury that has sidelined him for the international break.
Newcastle boss Steve McClaren will be hoping Daryl Janmaat makes a speedy recovery from the knee injury that has sidelined him for the international break.
The 26-year-old right-back sustained the knock against Manchester City on Saturday, but remained on the pitch for the entirety of the Magpies' 6-1 defeat.
Janmaat was included in the Netherlands squad for their must-win Euro 2016 qualifiers with Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic in the coming days, although he has subsequently been withdrawn due to the injury.
The Dutchman is therefore considered doubtful for the visit of Norwich when the domestic season resumes on October 18 after the two-week break, but McClaren will be keeping his fingers crossed over the availability of Janmaat.
The Tynesiders are rooted to the foot of the table after failing to win any of their opening eight league games of the season, having exchanged places with local rivals Sunderland, who picked up a point against West Ham this past weekend.
