Palestine kept their hopes of progression from alive following a 0-0 draw with Saudi Arabia in a second round World Cup qualifier at the Amman International Stadium on Monday.

Saudi Arabia made a good start to the game, but were perhaps guilty of profligacy in front of goal, with Mohammad Al-Sahlawi in particular wasting several scoring chances.

Alexis Norambuena was in fine form for Palestine at the back, making crucial stops on a handful of occasions.

Palestine failed to really create any chances in the first half, but Sameh Maraaba did force Shaye Ali Sharahili into a late save at the end of the period.

Shortly after the restart, Yahya Al-Shehri and Taisir Al-Jassim combined well in the final third, but the latter could only fire his effort well over the bar.

The duo crafted another splendid chance later in the half, but Al-Jassim again conspired to fire wide of the mark when it looked easier to score.

In the end Palestine held on for a draw and a vital point that just about keeps their hopes of making the next round alive, while Saudi Arabia remain top of Group A with 13 points.
