Daniel Sturridge could return for Liverpool says Jurgen Klopp
Daniel Sturridge has only made three appearances for Liverpool so far this season

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested that Daniel Sturridge could make his long-awaited return from injury against Bordeaux on Thursday - but Martin Skrtel is out.

Striker Sturridge has not played since October 4 because of a knee injury but returned to training last week and was an unused substitute during Saturday's 4-1 win at Manchester City.

Klopp revealed the 26-year-old is getting through more consecutive sessions than ever since he succeeded Brendan Rodgers and now describes him as "another option".

"Daniel is getting closer, and closer, and closer and now he can train seven, eight times in a row, which is the longest since I came here," Klopp said in his pre-match press conference at Melwood.

"So it helps us and it helps him, and we have another option [as striker].

Defender Martin Skrtel scored in the 4-1 win over Man City but he will miss out on Thursday through illness

"Christian Benteke is in very good shape. When I came here he was injured but now he's had many sessions with the team and we are in a good position at the moment."

Roberto Firmino has also returned from injury since Klopp's arrival, and he scored in the thrashing of City, but Klopp confirmed that defender Skrtel will miss the Europa League Group B tie at Anfield.

"When you have one problem, then you have another one. Martin Skrtel is a bit ill," he said.

"Mamadou Sakho is in a good way but he is not ready to play, so we have two new ones, and we will see how we handle this."
