Liverpool are set to battle their Merseyside rivals Everton for the signature of Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland, per the Mirror.
Butland has been in sensational form this season for the Potters since becoming the number one choice between the sticks at the Britannia Stadium.
The 22-year-old was trusted as the first pick when the club allowed Asmir Begovic to join Chelsea in the summer.
The England international has kept four clean sheets in 14 league outings this campaign leading to the interest from Merseyside.
Both Liverpool and Everton see Butland as their first-choice goalkeeper for years to come, according to the Mirror, and each side are prepared to pitch an offer to Stoke next summer.
However, the report indicates that manager Mark Hughes will slap a £17 million price on the young talent.
At Anfield Jurgen Klopp is still said to be unsure about Simon Mignolet in the Liverpool goal and could look to replace the Belgium with Butland, who made his international debut against Italy in August 2012.
A period in which Butland undergone loan spells with Barnsley, Leeds United and Derby subsequently ensured. Butland, however, has broken back into the national setup, providing Joe Hart with what many see as his biggest competition for the England No.1 jersey in a while.
