Hamburger 1 - 1 Koln: Nicolai Muller secures Hamburg a draw against Cologne
Posted Monday, February 08, 2016 by PA
Hamburg and Cologne shared the spoils on Sunday, with Nicolai Muller cancelling out Simon Zoller's opener at the Volksparkstadion.
Zoller gave Cologne a deserved lead late in the first half after a mistake by Johan Djourou, but the hosts responded shortly after the break as Muller brought them level.
Marcel Risse had a shot pushed onto the crossbar by Hamburg goalkeeper Rene Adler as Cologne looked to snatch all three points, but an improved Hamburg were good value for their point.
The draw leaves both sides separated by three points in the standings, with Hamburg coach Bruno Labbadia given something to celebrate for his 50th birthday on Monday.
