Vincent Kompany: Man City still challenging for Premier League title
Vincent Kompany still believes Manchester City can catch Premier League leaders Leicester.

Vincent Kompany is refusing to rule out a Premier League title challenge despite trailing leaders Leicester City by 10 points.

Manchester City missed the opportunity to cut the gap on the Foxes when they were emphatically beaten 3-0 at Liverpool on Wednesday.

It was their third successive defeat in their worse run of results since November 2008. However, with none of the other top four sides winning in midweek, Kompany says they must quickly forget about the result at Anfield and focus on overhauling their rivals.

The City captain told reporters: "If there is one guarantee for this season it is nothing is sure. If you look at the results it could have been worse although we are not happy with the result or the performance, but at the same time it is a tough place for us to come.

"We are not going to draw too many conclusions from this game. We will see what is happening at the weekend; Arsenal and Spurs are playing against each other, we are at home to Aston Villa.

"We need to get the three points and maybe Leicester will drop some points at Watford."

City have not beaten any of the top-eight sides in the Premier League this season and have already lost eight league games -- more than each of their entire last four seasons.

On top of that, they have failed to record back-to-back league wins since October and have won just three of their last nine top-flight matches.

City face rock-bottom Aston Villa on Saturday as they start a run of fixtures against sides in the bottom half of the table and Kompany believes they can't afford any more slip-ups if they are to claim their third title in five years.

He added: "We can't make any more mistakes but I didn't expect all the other teams to lose.

"It is an awkward season; good for the fans but you can't predict anything can you?"
