Jose Mourinho says he wants new job in a place 'where I'm truly wanted'

Jose Mourinho has outlined what he wants out of his next job, saying he wants to lead a club in "a difficult league" and "where I am truly wanted."

Chelsea sacked Mourinho in December, just seven months after they won the Premier League title. He has been without a job since, though he has been repeatedly linked to replacing Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.

But Mourinho left his options open while aiming some veiled comments towards his former employers as he spoke about his plans for the future at a sponsorship event in Lisbon on Friday.

"I'll take my ideas to where they are wanted. I need to feel comfortable and I like to be where I am truly wanted," he said.

"I want to work in a club with responsibilities, I want to work in a club with a difficult league, where there are no easy targets. Within these possibilities, there are not many options for me. Calmly, we will decide."

Mourinho has spoken in the past of a desire to win a trophy in all the major leagues, and he has already won the Premier League with Chelsea, Serie A with Inter Milan, La Liga with Real Madrid and the Portuguese Liga with Porto.

That would leave Germany and France on Mourinho's bucket list, but Carlo Ancelotti's confirmation as Pep Guardiola's replacement at Bayern Munich would seem to rule out the Bundesliga, while his comments on Friday might be aimed at the ease of which Paris-Saint Germain have already secured Ligue 1.

Although links to Real Madrid persist, some reports have gone so far as to suggest Mourinho already has an agreement to take over at Old Trafford.

However, the Portuguese manager said he still does not know where he will end up, though he does expect to sign on somewhere before the next season begins.

"I can almost guarantee that I'll be working this summer," Mourinho said. "I've had good offers on the table, but I do not know where I am going. After a few months to recharge my batteries, I'll be ready to go with everything I have to give.

"It's a matter of thinking, to come to a good decision and deciding it. In the summer, at the end of the season, everyone will know what my next club will be."
