Sevilla coach Unai Emery has confirmed Ever Banega has played his last game for the Spanish club, amidst reports of an imminent transfer to Inter Milan.
The 44-year-old spoke with great affection of the Argentinian midfielder, who has been strongly linked with a move to the Serie A outfit recently.
"I have great relationship with Banega, one of love and hate," the Coach told reporters after the game.
"I love him because he's a lad who loves his football, endears himself to you and gives you all of his footballing ability, which is what he's done with Sevilla," he continued.
"Banega shed tears in the dressing room [after the game] because he's going."
Speaking of his team's 2-0 extra-time loss to Spanish double-winners, Barcelona, the coach reflected on a good performance from his team which, sadly for the Sevilla's supporters, was not enough on the night.
"Our approach was to win in 90 or 120 minutes and compete under any circumstances," he added.
"With 11 [men], we were always in a position to control the game, and we had the capacity to do damage in attack.
"In the second half, we had two good chances but lacked freshness.
"Still, I appreciate [our performance] as we competed, having been better [than Barca] at times, but ultimately we were unbalanced in equal measure.
"I congratulate Barcelona, but also to my players and the team."
