Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery throws jab at Pep Guardiola

Ribery and Pep, relationship over

Franck Ribery has thrown a surprising jab at his former manager Pep Guardiola in an interview with Kicker.

The French midfielder seemed to enjoy a solid working relationship with the Catalan during their three seasons together; indeed Ribery only ever seemed to speak highly of his then-manager.

But with Pep now out of sight and out of mind in Manchester, Ribery has taken the opportunity to throw some shade his way, and make implicitly clear that he was less than enamoured with the Catalan's management methods.

In highlighting how much he was enjoying working under new boss Ancelotti, Ribery quite deliberately omitted Pep from his list of manager he's enjoyed working with:

'Under Ancelotti, I finally feel trusted again, he's a great coach.

"I need someone like him, Jupp Heynckes or Ottmar Hitzfeld."

Pep's Unpopularity

Despite being regarded as one of the greatest managers of modern times, Pep doesn't enjoy unanimous love among players.

The likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mario Mandzukic and Thomas Muller have clashed with him in the past, and it seems he wasn't quite Ribery's cup of tea all this time either.
