Nantes 0 - 1 Monaco: Monaco claim first win of new season as Gabriel Boschilia opens account in style

Gabriel Boschilia scored his first Monaco goal as Leonardo Jardim's side secured their first three points of the season with a 1-0 win at Nantes.

Boschilia, who spent the second part of last season on loan at Standard Liege, opened his account midway through the first half with a stunning free-kick

The former Brazil Under-20 international had an opportunity in the 20th minute after Joao Moutinho and Ivan Cavaleiro combined to tee him up, but a wayward effort failed to find the target.

Moments later, however, Boschilia was gifted another shooting chance when Monaco were awarded a dangerous free-kick, and the 20-year-old forward made full use of the opportunity with a superb curling effort that left Remy Riou clutching at air.

Nantes were struggling and offered little in a response until just after the restart when a free-kick found Lucas Lima 12 yards out but, after getting above Kevin N'Doram, his header failed to work Danijel Subasic in the Monaco goal.

The hosts continued to huff and puff but Oswaldo Vizcarrondo headed wide with a decent header before Diego Carlos fizzed an effort over the bar from distance as the hour mark approached.

In a game of little quality, it was Les Canaris who continued to edge the second half and Valentin Rongier tested Subasic late on, but the visiting keeper gathered with just less than five minutes to play.

In the end, it was Monaco who went closest to the game's second goal when Valere Germain did well to pull the ball back into Tiemoue Bakayoko's path but the former Rennes midfielder saw his effort well saved by Riou.
