Scholes wants Kroos and Modric alongside Pogba

Jose Mourinho isn't playing Paul Pogba in his ideal position according to Manchester United legend Paul Scholes, who believes signings like Luka Modric and Toni Kroos would help balance out the French midfielder and bring out his best qualities.

Two consecutive losses in five days have dampened United's otherwise promising start to the season, bringing expectations back down to earth as Mourinho continues to mold the team.

"Pogba needs a player like Kroos and Modric beside him and I think they are availble," Scholes said. "He would play much better next to players like that."

As to those already within the squad, Michael Carrick could be an option to give the French midfielder more positional flexibility.

"Right now, he [Pogba] doesn't know what position he is playing and where he is supposed to be."

Because the 23-year-old is playing as a defensive midfielder, Scholes also believes this is leading to him wanting to dribble too much to bring the ball out of dangerous positions, something which wouldn't happen if he were to play further up the pitch.
