Club Brugge 1 - 2 FC Porto: Andre Silva's late penalty earns Porto Champions League win at Club Brugge

Andre Silva's 90th-minute penalty snatched a 2-1 Champions League win for Porto at Club Brugge.

The 20-year-old sent Ludovic Butelle the wrong way to deny the Jan Breydelstadion hosts a first point in this season's competition.

Jelle Vossen had scored Brugge's opening goal of the group stage in the 12th minute, stabbing home from inside a crowded box, but the visitors fought back strongly and deservedly levelled in the 68th minute when Miguel Layun brilliantly lashed into the top-right corner from 25 yards.

The 2004 competition winners, playing in yellow, continued to threaten and were rewarded after Wesley fouled Danilo Pereira, allowing Silva to steer into the bottom-right of goal from the spot.

The result put Porto level on four points in Group G with FC Copenhagen, who lost 1-0 at Leicester, while Brugge remained rooted to the foot of the table.

Vossen squandered an early chance when he shot straight at Iker Casillas but made no mistake in a hectic penalty area when Hans Vanaken's effort was parried straight to him.

Porto finally had an effort on goal in the 20th minute although Otavio could only glance Oliver Torres' deep cross over. Shortly after, Hector Herrera let fly from distance and Brugge goalkeeper Ludovic Butelle could only parry but his defence scrambled the ball away for a corner.

Ivan Marcano wasted a golden opportunity to level midway through the half when his close-range header from a corner gave Butelle a chance to save.

Porto continued to threaten when Herrera's low shot took a wicked deflection and crept beyond the post.

Casillas appeared to give his Porto team-mates an earful in the tunnel as they emerged early for the second half but it had little initial effect as the hosts attacked down the left to find Ruud Vormer just outside the box. However, he bent a shot narrowly wide.

Yacine Brahimi, one of two Porto substitutes just before the hour, almost made an immediate impact when he let fly from distance, forcing Butelle to tip over.

But Layun made no mistake when he crowned a Porto break, collecting Otavio's pass and firing in a thunderbolt that left Casillas with no chance.

Layun again and substitute Andre Andre each had an effort on goal in the closing stages before Silva's penalty won it.
