Ukraine 1 - 0 Finland: Artem Kravets' goal sees Ukraine defeat Finland in Group I
Posted Sunday, November 13, 2016 by PA
Artem Kravets' first-half strike was enough for Ukraine to secure a 1-0 win over Finland and move up to second place in their World Cup qualification group.
Yevhen Konoplyanka's surging run down the left set up the decisive moment on 25 minutes as his drilled cross found Kravets, who had the simplest of tasks to turn home after making a run to the back post.
The win in Odessa lifted Ukraine above Iceland, after the Euro 2016 surprise package suffered a damaging 2-0 defeat at Group I leaders Croatia on Saturday night.
Ukraine can overtake Croatia at the top of the group when they meet in the next round of fixtures in March.
