Manchester United are interested in signing Porto and Portugal striker Andre Silva.
As reported by the Daily Record, the prospect has a release clause of €60million in his contract, and has been hugely impressive so far this season, scoring seven goals in ten league appearances for Porto. The report also adds that the Red Devils have expressed a ‘strong interest’ in the forward.
United already have some extremely talented young strikers at their disposal in Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, but both players are also capable of playing out wide, whereas Silva, 21, is usually deployed as a centre forward.
Silva has also showcased his immense potential on the international stage by scoring five goals in four appearances for the Portugal senior side having previously scored with regularity for his club at youth level. While in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, Sporting’s no.10 has bagged seven goals in 10 games.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is currently the first-choice striker for United but the Swede is out of contract next summer and it isn’t currently clear whether he will get a new deal, which could lead the club to consider making an approach for the highly-rated Silva.
