Internet split over Jamie Vardy’s red card against Stoke

Jamie Vardy wasn't able to follow up his Chelsea heroics against Stoke after receiving his marching orders in the 28th minute.

The 29-year-old slid in on Mame Biram Diouf but although it could be argued that he was out of control it did look like a harsh red card.

He won the ball but caught Diouf on the top of the foot with his follow through and will now miss games against Everton, West Ham and Middlesbrough.

To make matters worse Bojan put Stoke ahead from the penalty spot 11 minutes later before Joe Allen doubled the lead heading into half-time.

The internet was split over whether Vardy deserved the red card or not.

Gary Linekar was very much in the harsh camp.

But there was no shortage of people who thought the England international deserved his marching orders.

It's worth noting that Craig Pawson was the same referee who let Marcos Rojo off for a similar looking challenge against Crystal Palace.

But look on the bright side Jamie. If the red doesn't get rescinded you can have a Vardy party all through the festive period an into 2017.
