The Italian boss has set his sights on the Bayern Munich star after failing in his attempts to sign Radja Nainggolan.

Antonio Conte tried to sign the Juventus midfielder in the summer but the Serie A champions refused to budge on their high asking price.

And according to The Sun, Conte has now given up on his pursuit of Nainggolan and will focus on trying to lure Vidal to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are plotting a £34m move for Bayern Munich's Arturo Vidal

The report suggests Chelsea will use the money from Oscar’s £60m sale to Shanghai SIPG to make a £38m approach for Vidal.

Bayern are unlikely to want to part with the midfielder and Chelsea’s opening offer of £34m is likely to be rejected.

The German giants will hold out for closer to £40m before they even consider selling him.

Conte is a big fan of the Chilean and knows him well from their time together at Juventus after he signed him from Bayer Leverkusen.

Together they won three Serie A titles before Conte took up the position as Italy coach.

Vidal is under contract with Bayern until 2019, but Conte is confident he can persuade the Chile international into a reunion in west London.
