Crewe Alexandra vs Stevenage Borough - Jon Guthrie could return against Stevenage

Crewe defender Jon Guthrie is expected to be fit for the Sky Bet League Two visit of in-form Stevenage.

Guthrie has been nursing a niggling groin problem in recent weeks, with the injury forcing him off against both Grimsby and Blackpool.

Charlie Kirk comes back into contention after serving a three-match ban and the forward kept himself ticking over with a goal for the Under-23 side this week. Midfielder Billy Bingham was also on target in that game as he continues to step up his return from injury.

Scans have shown that the hamstring injury Danny Hollands suffered last week is pretty severe and the Crewe captain will be out for at least two months.

Stevenage manager Darren Sarll is leaving it as late as possible to pick his team.

Several players have picked up injuries during the week and the Boro boss is taking a larger than normal squad to Cheshire East to give his players as much time as they need to recover.

Jack King has this week returned to training following injury but is unlikely to feature as he continues to build up his fitness.

Captain Ronnie Henry (knock) was forced to quit training on Thursday and Matt Godden and Steven Schumacher are working away from the main group due to knocks.
