Norwich City sack Alex Neil after two years in charge

Norwich City have sacked manager Alex Neil after just over two years at the club.

The Scotsman was appointed as the Canaries' boss in January 2015 and guided Norwich to the Premier League via the play-offs but was unable to keep them in the division.

Norwich have struggled of late and have gone five games without a victory, prompting the decision to dismiss Neil, as reported by BBC Sport.

First-team coach Alex Irvine will take charge of the Norwich team for tomorrow's game at home to Blackburn Rovers.

Currently in eighth place in the Championship, Norwich have created 330 chances in the division this season, but they have conceded 48 goals.

Neil commenced his coaching career as interim player/manager at Hamilton Academical before taking the position on a permanent basis.

Norwich will seek to make an appointment as quickly as possible as they look to ensure that they finish the season strongly, although securing a place in the play-offs will be very difficult indeed.
