Manchester City urged to sign Jack Butland for £25million by Stoke City’s Charlie Adam

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola should make a £25million bid for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland in the summer, according to Charlie Adam.
The Spaniard's decision to send Joe Hart on a season-long loan deal to Torino and replace him with Claudio Bravo has backfired somewhat as the Chilean international has failed to convince that he's up to the standard and has lost his place in the side to Willy Caballero since the turn of the year.
As a result Guardiola has been tipped to sign a new goalkeeper when the transfer window reopens in July and Adam believes the City boss would be better off making a move for his teammate at the Bet 365 Stadium in Butland.
"Why don't they go and buy a younger goalkeeper... why don't they buy Jack Butland for £25m or whatever it would take," Adam said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
"He's a young, promising goalkeeper who keep can play with both feet, and he's as good as Joe Hart.
"I know he's had an injury, but he's an exceptional goalkeeper and a young goalkeeper, so to bring in someone at 33 and give them a four-year contract, that just doesn't make sense."
Butland is yet to make an appearance across any competition for the Potters this season as he continues to recover from the ankle injury sustained whilst on international duty with England over a year ago.
However, he was one of the standout keepers in the Premier League last season, making 81 saves - the fourth highest total across the entire division - and was able to keep 10 clean sheets in 31 appearances.
