Tottenham are Chelsea’s only rivals for the Premier League title – Pep Guardiola

Tottenham Hotspur are the only side that can stop Chelsea from winning the Premier League title this season, according to Pep Guardiola.

The Spaniard's Manchester City side's hopes of being crowned champions of England are all but over following a 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge last night which has left them a massive 14 points behind the Blues with just eight games remaining.

Spurs, meanwhile, beat Swansea City 3-1 in dramatic fashion as they became the first side in the league's history to win a game by two clear goals despite trailing in the 88th minute to remain seven points off the league leaders.

As a result, Guardiola admits that the focus for the remainder of the campaign will be on ensuring they finish in the top four, thus securing qualification for the Champions League next season.

"Today the Premier League has gone," Guardiola is quoted by the Daily Express. "It's between Chelsea and Tottenham now.

"Now we have to think about qualifying for the Champions League and finishing in the top four.

"Were we the better side? Absolutely. But they got six points against us [over the two games], and we got zero. And football is about results. But the way we played, I was happier today with the way we played at Arsenal on Sunday - and we got a point less.

"We created enough more than Chelsea - to win the game. It's an honour to have the amazing players I have. We came here to Stamford Bridge and play the way we have, with huge personality. I'm a lucky guy to manage these guys.

"It's encouraging for the future. I'm optimistic. It's been like this all season but in the boxes we are not good enough. We created enough to score goals. It's our problem. But my players play in one way and that's why I want to be here - to help Man City for years.

"The people who are watching us must be proud of our fans. We did everything."

City have now played each of their rivals away from home this season and worryingly picked up just four points from a possible 15 as they lost to Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool as well as the Blues on the road but picked up a point away at Arsenal and recorded a victory at Old Trafford back in September.
