Lahm: Bayern Munich can win in Madrid

Bayern Munich face Real Madrid on Tuesday in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals and captain Philipp Lahm believes his side can turn things around.

After announcing his retirement from football in February, this is the German's last chance of lifting the prestigious trophy again.

"I believe we can win this game," he confidently told reporters.

"We have a very strong team, who can score goals at home or away."

Bayern trail Madrid 2-1 thanks to two first leg goals scored by Cristiano Ronaldo, and Tuesday's match at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu will be the fourth time the two have faced off on Spanish soil.

"In the first leg two years ago, we had them under control, but they were dangerous on the counter attack," he explained.

"This is something we must avoid this time around."

Recalling his past visits, including a game en route to the 2012 Champions League final, Lahm admitted the atmosphere is always a fantastic one.

"I have learned a lot of things playing here," he said. "This match will be played with great intensity.

"Throughout my career I have always measured up against the best."

Last Wednesday's match was Lahm's 104th appearance for the German side in European competitions.
