Paul Scholes makes crazy claim about Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford

Paul Scholes has raised a few eyebrows in his pre-match comments before Manchester United's Europa League tie with Anderlecht.

United produced arguably their best performance since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club three years ago in the weekend win over Premier League leaders Chelsea.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic rested in the midst of a busy domestic and European schedule, Marcus Rashford shone up top and scored the opener in the 2-0 win at Old Trafford.

And his performance has given Jose Mourinho a selection dilemma when it comes to his attacking options.

But Scholes feels Rashford's brilliant performance gives him the edge over Ibrahimovic in the big games, despite the big Swede carrying United at times this season with his goals.

When asked who he would pick out of the two in the big games, he said: "After Sunday it has to be Rashford.

"There may have been a doubt beforehand but after Sunday I feel that was a template for United to go into these big games and next year as well."

"Zlatan's had a great season but I just think in those big games, when you need energy against Arsenal, City, Chelsea you need to go quick and with someone in behind and Rashford can certainly do that."

Considering Ibrahimovic has outscored Rashford by 28 goals to nine and has found the net against Manchester City, Liverpool and twice in the League Cup final, it's a bold claim.

But has Rashford's display proved to Mourinho he should be his man for the big occasion?
