Newport County vs Accrington Stanley - Newport waiting on fitness of David Pipe and Scot Bennett
Posted Thursday, April 20, 2017 by PA
Newport are waiting on captain David Pipe and former skipper Scot Bennett ahead of the Sky Bet League Two visit of Accrington.
The defensive pair came off with injuries during Monday's 6-1 defeat at Plymouth which kept Newport in the relegation zone with three games to go.
Pipe has the greater chance of featuring as a hip flexor problem is expected to settle down, with Bennett nursing a sore hamstring which might not heal in time.
Mark O'Brien could step in for Bennett after missing the Plymouth thrashing through illness and concussion, while midfielder Joss Labadie is also available following a two-game ban.
In-form Accrington still have an outside chance of making the play-offs after a run of 15 games unbeaten.
Manager John Coleman has no fresh injury concerns after Monday's 1-0 win over Crawley.
Sean Clare and Aaron Davies missed that game with foot injuries but could be pressing for a return to the Stanley squad.
Scott Brown was an unused substitute for the second game in succession since returning from a five-match ban but is in contention to come into the midfield.
