Arsene Wenger's hopes of reaching the top four were wrecked after West Ham's loss to Liverpool

The Gunners should have nothing to worry about when they entertain relegated Sunderland Tuesday night, but they have a tough final fixture at home to Everton.

And Wenger is worried their rivals for Champions League qualification, Manchester City and Liverpool, could have it easy in their remaining games.

City take on West Brom tonight and Watford on Sunday while Liverpool are red-hot favourites to beat relegated Middlesbrough on the final day.

And although none of those teams have anything to play for, Wenger reckons they have a moral obligation to pull out all the stops and do Arsenal a massive favour.

He said: “Some teams turn up, some teams are on holiday. To be professional is to do your job well until the last day of the season.

"To look into the mirror and say you did it properly is vital. If we don’t have the results I am disappointed, but what is not excusable is to not give your best.”

Wenger’s appeal comes after watching West Ham’s 4-0 surrender at the hands of Liverpool on Sunday.

"We had to fight very hard at Stoke and Southampton,” added the Arsenal boss. “But some teams once they are safe have a breather which didn’t happen 10 years ago.

"The league has changed mentally. Morally it has changed a lot.

"We can only influence our own behaviour and take care of ourselves, not judge too much the others. Normally in an ideal world you want to rely on your own results.

"You have to put yourself in a position where you depend on your results only. Unfortunately for us that’s not the case for us now.

"The only thing we can have a chance is to influence our results and keep going.”

Arsenal have hit form after winning six of their last seven games, including booking their place in the FA Cup final against Chelsea.

But a mid-season slump means they have been left relying on results elsewhere at the crunch stage of the season.

And Wenger best hope his call to arms does not see Sunderland decide to finish a disastrous season on a high - especially with Black Cats boss David Moyes claiming some of his players had downed tools in Saturday’s defeat to Swansea.

Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer described Sunderland’s attitude as “pathetic” and Moyes conceded: “In many ways he was right.

"A lot of them probably believe they have futures elsewhere but I think you have to perform on the pitch to do that.

"They think they have something better to go to but people who have been watching might say, ‘No, you have not’.

"I was massively disappointed with the Swansea performance.”
