Inter Milan have given up on trying to prise him away from the Premier League champions, with Luciano Spalletti now expected to take over at the San Siro.

Conte never gave Inter any encouragement he fancied the job, and is now set to sign a bumper new deal which will significantly increase his £6.5m-a-year salary.

The Italian has been a revelation in his first season in England, with even Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich signing his name during Sunday's title celebrations.

And the 47-year-old plans to carry on topping the pile after being named LMA Manager of the Year this week.

He was presented with the award at the League Managers Association dinner on Monday night by Sir Alex Ferguson and Gareth Southgate.

Conte said: "I think I've had a lot of incredible emotions in my first season here in England.

"I want to say thank you to all the people who voted for me. It's great to receive this award. I hope to deserve this.

"It's fantastic to read all the names that won this trophy and to stay with these managers is a great achievement for me. I hope to continue in the best way."

Chelsea won the league by becoming the first team to win 30 games in a Premier League season, finishing 43 points better off than the year before.

They will complete a league and cup Double if they beat Arsenal at Wembley, and an agreement is now close on Conte's future.

LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson said: "This year we have welcomed a new name to the list of top professionals who have won this prestigious accolade.

"For Antonio, to win the Premier League and reach the final of the FA Cup in his first season in England adds further lustre to the praise for a job well done."

Brighton boss Chris Hughton scooped the award for Championship Manager of the Year while the League One award went to Chris Wilder of Sheffield United. Portsmouth's Paul Cook won the League Two award.
