GERARD PIQUE didn't return to Barcelona with his team-mates after their Copa del Rey victory so he can fly out to Boston to study for a Master's degree.
The centre-back started as the Catalans beat Alaves 3-1 at the Vicente Calderon to win the trophy for a third time on the spin.
After the match, the players returned triumphantly to Barcelona to celebrate with the fans.
But Mundo Deportivo report Pique remained in Madrid so he could get on a fly out to Boston, where he is studying at the famous Havard University.
The 30-year-old is taking a Master's in Business, Media, Sports and Entertainment.
And, famously anti-Real Madrid, he has confirmed he is likely to miss Los Blancos in action in the Champions League final against Juventus.
With retirement slowly creeping up, the former Manchester United superstar has already started to prepare for life after football.
Pique has been tipped to one day become president of the Nou Camp club.
And, recently, he even took his first steps into tennis.
The 2010 World Cup-winner has big plans on how he would revolutionise the sport.
Pique will be remembered as one of the best defenders in the game's history for his incredible achievements for club and country.
He re-joined Barcelona when Pep Guardiola became manager in 2008 after four seasons in the Premier League and helped the Catalans win the Treble.
Since then, the trophies have piled in and he has been an integral part of all of them.
