Romelu Lukaku is the perfect replacement for Diego Costa, according to Ray Parlour

That is according to former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour, who believes the Everton striker is capable of filling Diego Costa's boots.

Costa looks set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after claiming that Antonio Conte has told him he is not in his plans for next season.

And Starsport understand Lukaku has snubbed interest from Manchester United to return to Chelsea.

"It looks like he could be the man who is going to replace him," Parlour said live on Sky Sports.

"Obviously he's gone to Everton, had a really good spell at Everton.

"He's scored all different sorts of goals and he's improved."

"If he can keep improving, he's a young man he's still 23-years-old, if he can keep improving the way he is, because he's a big unit, he can hold the ball up and bring the midfield in as well but he can also score goals."

"I think he would be a perfect fit for Chelsea."

Lukaku claimed last week that he has struck a deal on a move.

He said: "My agent knows what is going to happen and I know as well. I'm staying calm and we have an agreement with the club as well."

"We stay calm and at least we have a direction where we want to go. I want to take everything to another level and be better than I was last year."

Meanwhile, AC Milan are in talks with Costa's agent Jorge Mendes about a possible move.

But the Spain international fancies returning to former club Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish outfit are under a transfer ban until 2018 but Costa said: "To sign for Atletico does not mean I wouldn't play. I could go out on loan.

"Chelsea has to decide my future. I have two years left on my contract. I have to wait for the club's decision."

"If they want to sell me, I will decide what the best option is. I would love to play for Atletico."
