AC Milan's mixed signals: Donnarumma is staying, but we await offers

Mino Raiola communicated Gianluigi Donnarumma's wish to leave AC Milan to the club last week and it now seems that their directors are unsure what they should do next.

The goalkeeper has one year remaining on his contract, so the Serie A giant could keep sell him now to cash in or they could let him go for free next summer after enjoying his talents for one final season.

"He will stay here and then he will leave for free next year," the club's CEO Marco Fassone said on their in-house television channel, appearing to select the second option.

Yet he then admitted that the Rossoneri could still sell him before the window slams shut.

"Any team that wants him will have to pay his price," he said.

"That is not 15 or 20 million euros, but is a lot more.

"We are open to receiving offers and will study all of them."

It remains to be seen exactly where Donnarumma will be playing at the start of next season and if he will join Real Madrid, as has been rumoured, but for the moment he is representing Italy at the Under-21s European Championships.
