Chelsea near Aubameyang deal and confident of beating Liverpool: Dortmund in Giroud talks
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looks destined to leave Borussia Dortmund for Chelsea

CHELSEA are reportedly closing in on a £65million deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with Borussia Dortmund already lining up Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud as his replacement.

The Blues are in desperate need of strengthening their frontline following their failure to land Manchester United new boy Romelu Lukaku.

Antonio Conte has already missed out on his top target, and signing Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid is proving difficult too.

Attentions have subsequently turned to Aubameyang, who is available and looking to leave the Westfalenstadion.

The 28-year-old would be a replacement for outgoing Diego Costa, with the Chelsea striker heading back to Atletico Madrid.

The Blues are currently preparing to offload him and have given the fiery frontman permission to sit out their pre-season tour to the Far East.

With Chelsea focused on bringing Aubameyang in, the Mirror claim a £65m move is near.

Liverpool have been credited with interest too with a reunion for the Gabon international and Jurgen Klopp possible at Anfield.

However, Chelsea are said to be confident of seeing off competition from their Premier League rivals and are now in pole position ahead of the Reds.

With Aubameyang looking likely to head to Stamford Bridge, it could see Giroud leave north London and fill the void for Dortmund.

The Mirror add the Bundesliga club have opened formal talks with Arsenal, and they are hopeful of reaching an agreement.

West Ham, Everton and Marseille have all been chasing the France international too, with Alexandre Lacazette having arrived at the Emirates.

But Dortmund are apparently Giroud's preferred choice, and the Hammers have now ended their pursuit.

Arsenal, though, could seek as much as £35m from Dortmund for Olivier Giroud.
