The past has come back to haunt Manchester City Kyle Walker.

The Spurs full-back goaded City fans back in 2012 after a controversial game settled by a Mario Balotelli penalty.

After the 3-2 loss, Walker tweeted: "All u man city fans u can talk now we will just see at the end of the season… was u all there when city was no where to be seen #gloryfans".

A few hours later, Walker deleted the tweet and apologised, posting: "Apologise for this tweet just so gutted about the result today, sometimes football gets the better of u. Night".

But Walker, set to join City for £50million-plus, could find the whole scenario thrown back in his face again once he moves to Manchester.

City will break the world record transfer fee for a defender, outstripping the fee Chelsea paid Paris St-Germain for David Luiz last summer.

Dani Alves was thought to be heading for the Etihad but the Brazilian chose PSG instead.

Pablo Zabaleta, Bacary Sagna and Jesus Navas have all moved on to make room for Walker.

Once it became common knowledge that Walker would be leaving Spurs for City, a video of the England right back went viral.

This is from the past season when the Spurs team are on a plane to Barcelona and discuss a mega move for Walker.

He simply replies: "Tottenham till I die".

City, meanwhile, are ready to stump up another £50m for Benjamin Mendy.
The French international has become one of the most highly sought-after defenders in the world after helping Monaco to the Ligue 1 title.
