About to begin his fifth season at Real Madrid and taking the No.10 shirt for the 2017/18 campaign, Luka Modric is one of the most important players in the Real squad.
The Croatian decided to vacate his No.19 shirt in favour of the iconic 10, which had become free with James Rodriguez's departure.
"Many great players have taken that number," Modric said to the club's television channel.
"I was not thinking about changing but when the opportunity arose I liked it.
"I like the number and I have worn it before with Croatia and Dinamo Zagreb, but it is not the number that decided what happens on the pitch."
