Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic plans to stay at Old Trafford for "a long time", already feeling settled at his new club.

Despite only just completing his move to the red half of Manchester in a £40m move from Chelsea this summer, the Serbian international is already feeling settled in his new surroundings.

"Thanks to the guys, I feel very comfortable and I feel like I will be here a long time," said the 29-year-old to MUTV.

"They have helped me, and I am happy if I give them something back, and that I helped us to win."

The Serbian defensive midfielder showed an impressive display in his Premier League debut for the Red Devils on Sunday as they won comfortably in a 4-0 victory against West Ham. Partnering Paul Pogba, Matic achieved a pass accuracy of 86% and won 63% of his duels.

"We played good football, and I think our supporters enjoyed it as well," said Matic. "It's good to start well with three points, the season is long but we have to collect a lot of points and we've had a good start."

Matic a Schweinsteiger in Mourinho's mould: Five things learned from Man Utd 4-0 West Ham

"It was great [to play at Old Trafford], when you wear that [United] shirt you feel some kind of pressure because this is a big club, but that's why we are here.

"We know that it's a big responsibility to play for Manchester United and I'm happy that we have started well and that I hope we continue like this – I'm sure this group can do good things."

The Serbian also made sure to acknowledge the glittering contribution made by fellow new arrival Romelu Lukaku, who joined Mourinho's side in an £75m move. The Belgian's price tag was immediately justified as he netted twice for United against the Hammers.

"I am happy for him – not only that he scored goals – but his amazing all-round game as well," Matic said.

"He saved a lot of balls and he gave us self-confidence up front.

"It was very important for us that he scored his first two goals and, after that, it was easier for us to play, the game was more open, and there was more space to use. I'm happy for him and that we have him on the team, and I'm sure he will continue his form."
