Cristiano Ronaldo's fury at upheld ban: This is called persecution!

Now that his five game ban for pushing the referee following his red card against Barcelona has been confirmed, Cristiano Ronaldo launched into a spectacular social media rant.

Posting an image of the dismissal being dished out by Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea in the Supercopa de Espana first leg, the Real Madrid star unleashed a strong rebuttal against the Spanish FA.

"Impossible to be quiet in this situation, five games!!" he exclaimed on Instagram.

"It seems to me [that the ban is] exaggerated and ridiculous, this is called persecution!

"Thanks to my teammates and the fans for the support!!!"

Impossível ficar imune a esta situação, 5 jogos!! Parece-me exagerado e ridículo, isto chama-se perseguição! Obrigado aos meus companheiros pelo apoio e aos adeptos!!!
