Rakitic: Losing the Super Cup has brought us together

Along with teammate, Jordi Alba, Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic participated in a promotional event for the brand that sponsors them both and he noted to reporters that the Spanish Super Cup loss to Real Madrid has been a blessing in disguise as it's brought the group closer together.

The Croatian also explained his delight at the Blaugrana's performance against Juventus.

"Losing the Super Cup has helped us get together and start the league and the Champions League well," he began.

"It was important to start so well against the team that eliminated us [from the Champions League] last year and I think it is difficult to play against us when we play like we did on Tuesday."

Though Barcelona didn't have a great transfer window, those players that have arrived have been good for the competition for places.

"It's always good when that standard of player comes to the team," he continued.

"That's when we all want to give our best."

Luis Enrique had relegated the Croatian to a bit-part player last season but Ernesto Valverde has reinstated him as a starter.

"Every coach has different ideas," he noted.

"In general, I see that he has confidence in me.

"I feel comfortable andI look forward to keeping my place."
