Ravanelli: Higuain is a burden for Juventus

With just two goals from seven appearances this season, Gonzalo Higuain is under fire from many, including former Juventus forward Fabrizio Ravanelli.

With a Scudetto, Coppa Italia and Champions League winners' medal in his trophy cabinet from the Serie A giants, Ravanelli knows what it takes to lead the line at the club.

"[Higuain] is really confused, he looks like a shadow of the Higuain we know," the Italian legend told Radio Sportiva. "Continuing to play him right now doesn't help, because he needs calmness.

"His problem is more mental than physical. I think being left out of the national team hurt him.

"He should rest, most importantly his head. He should take a week's holiday and then come back.

"I'd leave him out for the Turin derby. I think he's currently a burden for Juventus, as aside from the goals he has scored he hasn't been the Higuain we know."

That upcoming clash with Torino on Saturday is vital in Juve keeping up their 100 percent record in Serie A n 2017/18.

"He scored an important goal in the derby last year, but from since then his performances have been disastrous," noted Ravanelli. "He needs to get back to being an important player.

"All of this talk certainly won't help him, but we know he's a superstar and a top player, because Juve paid 90 million euros for him. Unfortunately he's not in condition to play right now."
