Ronald Koeman: Everton boss could be facing the sack

Starsport has been told the Dutchman knows that he is “under the cosh”.

A defeat or draw today at Goodison would make it five matches without a win in all competitions.

Everton are being sucked into a relegation battle and are bottom of their group in the Europa League after Thursday night’s damaging home defeat against Lyon.

As revealed in Starsport two weeks ago, there are issues behind the scenes at Goodison involving Koeman, 54, and Director of Football Steve Walsh.

They relate to the club’s recruitment programme in the summer.

Sam Allardyce and Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez have been linked with the Everton job.

But we understand nobody has been lined up to replace Koeman, as the Everton board hope for an upturn in results.

Koeman admits he is under pressure but insists he still has the backing of the board.

But that could change and today – in terms of performance as well as result – could be defining.
